The weatherman was wrong again today. This isn't anything out of the ordinary, and I tire of it. It's not just him either; it's all of them. Their extended forcasts are particularly terrible. Monday: it's going to rain on Saturday. Tuesday: it's going to be 75 and sunny on Saturday. Wednesday: it's going to be 70 with afternoon rain and a slight chance of a hurricane on Saturday. Saturday: it's 65 and partly cloudy. It's been 65 and partly cloudy every day for a month! HOW HARD IS THAT TO PREDICT!

Anonymous suggested I go back to the beginning, write about the transition from Midwest to West. I hate to say it, but I’m running out of material. Sure, I could lampoon the people who freak out when it rains or when the wind blows. I could lambaste the ridiculous traffic and horrendous drivers. I could lament the culture that breeds love for things and self-enhancement (e.g., plastic surgery). But I think I’ve done all that already. The material will come (all it takes is one more dolt running public office instead of staying in Hollywood), but it hasn’t yet arrived…

I really should post most often. Part of the problem is that I don’t feel as if there’s all that much to report. There are things, such as being accepted to the graduate program in religion at Vanguard University and jamming my thumb (I know something was amiss when it started to curve), but, for the most part, things are same-old, same-old. Sarah is busy with school but has her own blog on which to rant. I’ve been keeping busy doing little (slacking at housekeeping, playing basketball twice a week, trying to pick up ancient Greek before grad school starts in the fall, and pretending to work on a sermon for Sunday at church: when I make a list, it seems like a lot; don’t be quick to forget that I have 16 free hours a day…not that I’m complaining; just stating that I’m lazy…). Anywho, that’s all for now; more repetition later…

Tonight, Sarah's vacation will have its last hurrah: we're going to see Ice Age II (in the theater, mind you; it's quite a treat). She's been bugging me about it since last month; I figure it's about time to give in... Yesterday, I jammed my thumb, something, for those of you who haven't had the joy of experiencing it, that is terribly annoying. I'm just that much closer to an ape (see previous post for an example).

Sarah's spring break has officially begun: she just got done napping, and now she's lying on the couch and watching TV. Not that she doesn't deserve to: she spent much of Saturday and Sunday (the actual first days of her break) working in her classroom. I've spent much of the day doing little (no small feat). I like that sentence. As for the rest of the week, we're planning on going to the San Diego Zoo on Wednesday; that should be fun. I'll let you know...

We ate lunch yesterday at Mimi's (in Azusa). I had a salad (not pictured: too big) that could have fed at least 15 people.
Above, Wednesday turned out to be sunny, so we went to Little Corona.
Below, Rebekah went climbing and spotted a sea lion.
Sarah joins her to look for it.
What's a trip to the beach without phone calls from you know who (you might not know who, but that's okay).

Yesterday, we made the trip to Azusa, CA (45 miles north and east of here) to visit Peter. It was a good trip, unless you count the rain, which I might. In a slightly related matter, I learned that the bottoms of my shoes have tiny holes that let rainwater inside. Also, yesterday’s socks smell funny.
The rain has been quite strange (in that there is rain, an absolute abnormality for this time of year, or any time of year for that matter). I actually enjoyed walking in it yesterday (except, of course for the great, wet-sock debacle of ’06). We also found that at Azusa Pacific University, they take joy in the rain as well, as evidenced by the students “wake-boarding” in the parking lot (normally towed by boats, these boarders were towed by bikes). I do miss college.
