Yesterday,
No one was forestalling.
Today,
Worms are crawling.
Trucks aren’t hauling.
Cars are stalling.
People are bawling.
The sky is falling.

P.S. To forestall means to deal with or think about beforehand, to anticipate. Additionally, I tried to work in "mauling", but I just didn't like the results...
